Rita MacNeil - National Security Threat ! ..... according to the birdbrains in the RCMP!
OTTAWA–RCMP spies infiltrated the women's movement in the early 1970s, monitoring marches and rallies to keep an eye on feminists including Rita MacNeil, who would become a much-admired Maritime songstress.An undercover source reporting on a March 1972 gathering of women's liberation groups in Winnipeg compiled biographical sketches of several delegates, noting MacNeil was in attendance from the Toronto Women's Caucus.
"She's the one who composes and sings women's lib songs," says the RCMP memo, portions of which remain secret.

Why yes there is! Imagine RCMP officers tailing Maritime singer, Rita McNeil because they consider her a threat to national security!!
But of course, there's good reason to suspect her. She sings barefoot and always has.
Measha Brueggergosman also likes to sing barefoot and at one time both ladies were large sized; Brueggergosman has since slimmed down.
But it's the barefoot thingy that had the RCMP all excited but their thinking goes against the stereotype of women barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen.
Well these ladies may not have ever been pregnant so that must have sent up the red flags.
Rita is a far less cause of concern than the barn burnings of Quebec back around the same time.
Or are they not mentioning that, anymore?
