Unsolved Manitoba Murder Has Interest In Saskatchewan

In October, 2000, a former Saskatchewan woman, Beverly Rowbotham was found murdered in her car in Selkirk, Manitoba. No one has ever been charged in her death:

"One of Manitoba’s most troubling murder mysteries is headed back to court this week as police, apparently making progress in their investigation, try to block the public from learning new details about the case. Justice officials have filed a motion seeking an extended sealing order on court documents that reveal “unique forensic evidence” surrounding the October 2000 killing of Beverly Rowbotham. The original sealing order on the search warrants obtained by police expires today. Several media outlets, including the Free Press, plan to argue that the veil of secrecy should be lifted, given the passage of time and the fact no arrests have ever been made."

"An eight-year-old unsolved death will return to a Winnipeg court Wednesday — but not to charge or convict a suspect. The CBC and other media outlets will be arguing against extending an order that bars public access to information contained in search warrants relating to the death of Bev Rowbotham, a 42-year-old mother of two. Rowbotham was found dead in her car in a gas station near Selkirk, Man., in October 2000. Investigators believe she had been beaten to death in the backyard of her home in nearby St. Andrews, then moved to Selkirk. No suspects have been identified in her death. In 2005, a Manitoba judge sealed portions of a warrant used to search the Rowbotham family home and to obtain DNA evidence in the case. The order expires Wednesday."
