Youtube Creators Challenge Pentagon's Reason For Ban

The recent ban by Pentagon officials on the use of Youtube on military computers has sparked a reaction from the online community.

YouTube's co-founders are challenging the Pentagon's assertion that soldiers overseas were using too much bandwidth by watching online videos.

That's the main reason the military gave for blocking popular Web sites from Defense Department computers. Company officials doubt that would have any real effect on the military's massive computer network.

And they're puzzled by the block because it came just days after the military launched its own channel on YouTube offering what it calls a "boots - on - the - ground" perspective of scenes of combat.

However, a new Iraqi government policy implemented this month bans news photographers and camera operators from filming bombing scenes, meaning video taken by citizens and uploaded to YouTube could become the only imagery the public sees of such devastation!

Wow, I know quite a few Canadians, but you are by far the most bitter.

Talked to one of my contacts in Iraq last week and he not only explained rationally why this type of ban would be in place but backed it as well.

I find listening to men there in Iraq over leftards such as yourself much more factual and informative.

By the way, keep up the good work, it's lefty's like you that make my job so much easier.

Our right-wing is full of charmers isn't it?

Actually looking at some of the pictures that Dr. Laura's precious son posted on MySpace maybe there is a good argument for blocking them ;0.

Seriously though, I have kiddos in and formerly in the military and I've been in some let's say...interesting places. I had the chance to check out some of the communications infrastructure and all I can say is...I have better at home. There may well be some validity to this one.
