Robert Parry lays out a frightening scenario in his Consortium News article, 'How Democrats Might Blow It'. He cautions Democrats not to be so quick at popping the champagne bottles in anticipation of electoral victory in the upcoming mid-term vote.
"As Democrats go through their biennial rite of premature victory celebrations, they are inviting defeat again by obsessing on polls about how many congressional seats are “in play” rather than on explaining to the American people what a Republican victory on Nov. 7 would mean to the nation."
If you only look at the pure data polling numbers, things look reasonably good for the Democrats. However, if you look at each contest and factor in spending, incumbency and local issues, it is not quite as rosy.
